What is beef rump steak good for?
A very full-flavored piece of meat that is excellent and versatile when roasted, braised, or casseroled, stir-fried, or pan-fried. It should have almost no presence of fat or marbling. As it is taken from a working muscle, rump steaks, or the whole rump joint may be a little tough, but they are full of flavor.
Tips for cooking the perfect steaks:
- Try and cook in a heavy-bottomed skillet.
- Cook over medium-high heat
- Add some oil, garlic, and rosemary or other herbs to the pan at the end of the cook to get some more flavor
- Let your steak rest for 5 minutes after cooking before digging in!
